Our name is the word for “alliance.” This means we stand steadfastly beside our customers, our people, and those who share our values in shaping a better world and a more secure future. We are present when circ*mstances are comfortable, but we swing into action when circ*mstances are hard.Allianz exists to protect what matters most to people. As a German-headquartered international company founded 134 years ago, we have the historical perspective to know that freedom and democracy are hard-earned, and that they are deeply cherished by the citizens who value them.We also know that the extremism currently threatening these values is stoked by fear. This includes existential concerns such as war, natural catastrophes, climate change, demographic shifts, the increasing cost of living, and the unknown implications of technological advancements. When it comes to protecting freedom and democracy, we do not believe that statements on social media alone will suffice. That is why we will combine forces with willing partners for action, and will work to listen, understand, and address the fears and disappointments at the root cause of extremism. Our compass as a company is trust and our core principle is inclusion, and we are optimistic that together with all partners we can succeed in restoring confidence in our institutions and overcoming the fears standing in the way of progress for free and open societies. All Allianz employees are invited to participate in a dialogue on trust and current events on Thursday morning, January 25, at 8:30am CET, hosted by Allianz CEO Oliver Bäte and our partner Richard Edelman, CEO of Edelman and leading authority on trust in society. The event can only be accessed by employees via Allianz internal communications platforms.

I am confident to say that we all agree that hate and xenophobia have never and will never have a place in our organization. Allianz has stood for diversity, equal opportunities and inclusion for more than 134 years. We firmly believe in the power of diversity and inclusion, because it is reflected in our core values, because it is what we believe in, and because it is simply the right thing to do! For our customers, for our own people and for society at large! 🕊🌈💪

There had been times when the name „strategic alliances“ was used as an euphemism for antitrust violations

At Allianz, we firmly believe in the power of diversity and inclusion, because it is the right thing to do. It is as simple as that.🕊 We stand for free and open societies, and we stand against racism or discrimination of any kind. It is simply unacceptable.🙏 I am incredibly proud that here at Allianz we are such a diverse, equitable and inclusive company and our culture is one where all our people can thrive and bring their whole self to work. Let's listen carefully to the fears and concerns of our people and society to ensure that the root causes are tackled, where each and everyone can make a difference.🌈 We have a rich history, spanning more than a century, and we recognize the importance of embracing diversity, not only within our company but also in the communities we serve.💪 We have worked relentlessly to foster a culture of respect and the fact that we have over 170 nationalities, from five generations and a balanced gender representation underlines our progress in making Allianz a truly inclusive workplace. https://lnkd.in/eka7d7Z2#Allianz #DiversityMatters #PeopleAndCulture #diversityandinclusion

Story Time, 1/3Once upon a time, in the early 1970s, a world in turmoil sought pathways to greater understanding and collaboration. It was a time of complex international challenges and a pressing need for unity. That's when the Trilateral Commission came into being.Imagine a room filled with remarkable individuals, leaders from North America, Europe, and Asia, each with unique expertise and backgrounds, but all sharing a common purpose: to build bridges across continents. Founded by David Rockefeller and Zbigniew Brzezinski, the Trilateral Commission was born from their vision of a more cooperative world. This was no ordinary organization. Its mission was clear – to promote peace, security, and economic stability among these three major regions. The commission brought together diplomats, business magnates, academics, and journalists, recognizing that dialogue and understanding were crucial. The Trilateral Commission became a forum where voices from diverse fields could harmonize, where differences were celebrated, and where solutions to global challenges were sought. From diplomatic negotiations to discussions on economic cooperation, the Trilateral Commission fostered unity. It was a place where intellectual and cultural exchange flourished, where ideas flowed like a river.Over time, the commission addressed critical issues of our world, advocating for peace, economic stability, and stronger global governance. It stood as a beacon of hope during challenging times. While some critics perceived it as an elite enclave, the commission's proponents saw its profound value. It served as a reminder that a world working together can overcome the greatest challenges.Today, the Trilateral Commission continues its mission. Its members continue to meet regularly, analyzing the ever-evolving global landscape. It remains a testament to the power of dialogue, collaboration, and understanding in a world that, even now, seeks to overcome complex global issues. In the story of the Trilateral Commission, we find a timeless lesson – that unity and understanding among diverse perspectives can pave the way to a brighter, more cooperative world.

Really interesting piece by colleagues at RAND on the US-China rivalry in what they term as the Neomedieval world at https://lnkd.in/gNd7Np7GThe characteristics they describe of this evolution of world affairs almost all relate to the ways they will be expressed at the state and local level. What we're already seeing is 1) politically, the nation-state is in steep decline, spurring political crises in many countries, 2) economically, growth has slowed & become imbalanced, creating the possibilities of entrenched inequalities and the expansion of illicit economies, 3)Non-state threats, including pandemics, banditry, and ecological and natural disasters could outpace rival militaries as security concerns, and 4) irregular and protracted conflict & the privatization of war have reemerged.Think of the implications for policing - the decline in state authority in the eyes of those we serve, imbalanced economies and illicit economies & their impacts on revenue and local businesses, non-state threats challenging our disaster planning and critical incident response, and actors continuing to push wedges into issues in ways that divide us into a modern version of feudal estates. The question, then, is how do we act now in anticipation of these trends instead of just playing defense when they gain momentum?

The realities of state weakness and societal fragmentation should be a central consideration in all our strategic thinking. RAND's piece on the neomedieval decline of the centralized nation-state dispenses the idea that technological advances translate to efficient governance. Rather, it can reverse the process, in which states simply get overwhelmed and gradually relinquish their capabilities to alternative forces. Geopolitical relations and by extension commercial and societal interests turn into a web of perplexity. #geopolitics #economy #business #travel #logistics #tech

Interesting piece in the @FT on non-state actors. Future Agenda's 2020 report on 'The World in 2030' included an insight on Hidden Organisations of Influence. https://lnkd.in/eJEtDQg7. There remains a need to increase both transparency and accountability of such organisations.

Yes, global competition today requires flexible fluidity and not zero-sum, unilateral solutions. The United States needs to further build on its efforts to contructively coalesce with middle and small powers, as well as non-state actors and the commercial sector.

In our current world, the influence wielded by a few has brought all generations perilously close to extinction. Deception, corruption, and betrayal pervade nations worldwide, leading us astray from the path of progress. It is crucial to contemplate how we can halt this destructive course and prevent the consequences that arise from the self-serving agendas of those whose greed overshadows their commitment to humanity's well-being, thus avoiding the repetition of dark chapters in history.Meaningful change is imperative, and unity stands as a fundamental element in restoring a broken system that has proven ineffective for the betterment of our global community. We require enhanced structure and the establishment of new laws and regulations. Furthermore, we must thoroughly investigate and address instances where our entrusted governments fail to respond to whistleblowers and valuable sources of information. By doing so, we can avert catastrophic consequences that may impact the entire world.Rather than wasting time assigning blame and condemning individuals fighting for justice worldwide, let us channel our energy and skills towards creating a better world. This necessitates a collective focus on improvement, transcending the divisive barriers of race, national boundaries, and the insatiable desire for control imposed by the current system. We must acknowledge the dire trajectory we are currently on, heading towards extinction, and instead, reflect upon our positions within society to champion truth, justice, and balance. To restore equilibrium, we must elevate our vibrations in a positive manner, fostering a harmonious world. Therefore, I implore every individual on this platform to contribute to the ongoing quest for improvement, rather than promoting an agenda that serves only to sow discord and harm humanity. Let us unite in contemplation of our roles in society, refocusing our efforts on upholding truth, justice, and balance. Together, we can forge a brighter future.

Here is a controversial synthesis yet useful and timely reflection on the current state of the world. Martin Wolf is just holding a mirror in his brilliant piece in the FT. If only we can set aside the 'whataboutism', we might learn something.#climatechange #emergingmarkets #inequality
