Breaking Down 'MLB The Show 22' Player Ratings for Every Team (2024)

The latest edition of MLB The Show dropped last week for PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, and that means it's time for a deep dive into each team's roster.

Who's rated too high? Who's rated too low? Who's missing entirely?

Those were among the questions we set out to answer while perusing the roster for all 30 teams in the latest video game offering from San Diego Studio.

Instant Reaction: Kirby Yates was arguably baseball's best closer as recently as 2019. However, he hasn't pitched since Aug. 14, 2020, and he's not expected to be ready to go until after the All-Star break. Does he really still deserve an 86 overall?

Instant Reaction: Trevor Story has a more well-rounded skill set than Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts, who don't provide much in the way of base-running value and are below-average defenders at their positions, so it makes sense that he'd have a higher overall rating. It's still weird seeing him as the best player on the Red Sox roster, though.

Instant Reaction: Much like the current situation in Philadelphia, the game gives Bryson Stott (71 overall) a higher rating than incumbent shortstop Didi Gregorius (69 overall). It looks like Stott could start the season at third base, but he's the shortstop of the not-so-distant future.
