Shoal Cave is a multi-level cavern in northeastern Hoenn. It can only be reached from Route 125. The layout of the cave will change depending on the tide. When the tide is high, only two rooms can be accessed. When the tide is low, five rooms can be accessed. The tides change based on the time of day.

High Tide 9 AM - 3 PM 9 PM - 3 AM
Low Tide 3 AM - 9 AM 3 PM - 9 PM

There aren't any Pokemon Trainer in the entire cave, only items. If you can collect four Shoal Shells and four Shoal Salts throughout the cave, bring them to the man near the entrance to obtain a Shell Bell and a Slowbronite Mega Stone.

High Tide

Bring a Pokemon that knows HM03 Surf to navigate through Shoal Cave at high tide.

Surf to the northwest side of the entrance to reach a doorway to a new room. Four Shoal Shells can be found in this area. All you need to do is surf to each little staircase.

A Rare Candy can also be found near the middle of the cave.

After grabbing all the items, Make you way to the southeast side of this room to return to the entrance. You can grab a Big Pearl before jumping the ledge to the south.

Low Tide

Bring a Pokemon that knows HM04 Strength and a Mach Bike to navigate through Shoal Cave at low tide.

Walk through the doorway to the north to reach a new room, then go through the nearby door on the left to the next area.

Use your Mach Bike to ride up the dirt slopes to the north. At the top of this little mountain is TM79 Frost Breath. Ride down the slope to the east and take the ladder down a level to the south.

This area is the basem*nt of Shoal Cave. Unlike the rest of the cave, it's mostly covered in ice. Some of the floor is even frozen over, and will force you to slide around until you hit solid ground or a rock.

Walk south and then west until you reach a large patch of ice. You need to slide in between the rocks to the northwest. Remember, you can slide diagonally, which will help you reach the right spot to continue on.

To the north is a small staircase that leads up to a plateau. You can find the Glalitite Mega Stone, a Never-Melt Ice, and a big Ice Rockhere. If you have an Eevee, level up around this rock to evolve it into Glaceon.

Return to the icy floor and travel northeast. If you slide through just right, you can reach TM07 Hail.

Jump down the ledge to the south and return to the previous room up the ladder. This time, go to the north and use a Pokemon with HM04 Strength to push a giant boulder west. A Shoal Salt is on the other side of the boulder.

Speak with the black belt further west to obtain a Focus Band. Give this to a Pokemon to allow it to endure attacks that would normally cause them to faint. Instead, it will leave them with 1 HP. Unfortunately, it only has a 10% chance of working.

Further west are two ladders. Take the ladder to the southwest first. This will take you to another Shoal Salt. Before going back down the ladder, walk northeast to another Shoal Salt.

Head back down the ladder and take the ladder to the northwest. Walk across the bridge to the west, go north to the second bridge, and walk across the second bridge to the east. Take the ladder down a level at the end of the path.

Walk down the staircases until you reach the bottom. Another Shoal Salt is at the end of the path next to a Ice Heal. This should clear the cave of all items! Take the ladder up a level to the west. Walk through the door to the south to return to the entrance.
