With the introduction of the Civil Liabilities Act in 2021, the amount of compensation you can claim for whiplash injuries has changed and is now based on the length of time you suffer from your injuries.

What Are The Whiplash Compensation Amounts For 2024?

Compensation for whiplash ranges from a minimum of £240 to a maximum payout of £4,345.

Typically, the average compensation amount for whiplash is between £570 and £630.

As part of the Civil Liabilities Act, compensation amounts for whiplash injuries are now based on how long your injury lasts.

Additionally, amounts are split into two tariffs, one with minor psychological injuries and one without.

How Much Compensation Is My Whiplash Claim Worth?

If your whiplash injuries last less than three months and you did not suffer any psychological injuries, you may be able to claim £240. However, you may be able to claim up to £4,215 if your injuries last between 18 and 24 months.

If you suffered from psychological injuries, the amounts of compensation you can claim for whiplash are higher, ranging from £260 if your injuries last less than three months to £4,345 if your injuries last more than 18 months.

An additional 20% may be claimed in “exceptional circ*mstances.” An example may be where the injury is exceptionally severe or the circ*mstances have led to increased pain and suffering.

The amounts above only relate to “whiplash injuries.” Under the new laws, this is defined as “a soft tissue injury or a sprain, strain, tear, rupture or lesser damage of a muscle, tendon or ligament in the neck, back or shoulder.”
