How do I know if Bank of America text is real?
Bank of America often sends messages from SMS short numbers for alerts, but we will never ask you for personal or financial information in a text message. Verify any phone number that appears in a text message.
Contact your bank to find out the short codes it uses for texting. If you receive a text claiming to be from your bank but it uses a different short code, the text is fraudulent. Beware of texts that provide email addresses or phone numbers and ask you to respond.
Here are some short codes for fraud and security alerts used by some major banks: Chase: 28107, 36640, 72166. Bank of America: 322632 (credit card security), 39989 (debit card security), 96264 (small business credit card), 86006 (check fraud), 55983 (banking security), 56433 (account takeover), 80814 (Zelle)
WSFS Card Fraud Alerts – Short Code: 86975
The text message will include WSFS Bank's name, the last four digits of your account number, and information about the suspicious transaction which triggered the fraud alert. Additionally, it will provide you with options to confirm the activity as valid or as unrecognized.
Phone. You may receive a call from the " Northeast Credit Union Fraud Detection Center" (800-262-2024 or 833-735-1894). Follow the prompts to verify the transaction or start resolving fraud.
¹ By texting us, you agree to receive an automated text message reply. It is not a condition of purchasing any products or services. Message and data rates may apply. Text STOP to 42690 to cancel and text HELP to 42690 for help.
Contact the bank, government agency, or company that the scam artist is impersonating so it can alert others and work with law enforcement to investigate the activity. Forward smishing messages to short code 7726—which spells “SPAM” on your keypad.
Banks rarely text their customers out of the blue. Every fraud SMS is an attacker trying to trick you into clicking on a malicious link that will install malware on your device or direct you to a fake website.
For help or information regarding text messaging, text HELP to 53849 or contact our customer service at 800. 933.6262 for consumer accounts and 866.758. 5972 for small business accounts.
Enter Authorization Code
To verify your identity, we need to provide you an authorization code. Call 800.933. 6262 to get the code. The code expires 10 minutes after you request it.
What does a smishing text look like?
A typical smishing scam message may seem like it's from a bank – maybe your bank – and include a link or phone number to bait you into clicking or calling. If you do, you stand a good chance of being hooked.
First State Bank & Trust helps protect our customers by monitoring transactions to detect possible fraud. You may receive texts or calls from our Fraud Detection Message Center to verify transactions periodically. Fraud Detection Message Center phone calls/texts originate from 855-961-1602.
Conversation Tracking
You can also track SMS conversations between two specific phone numbers using HTTP cookies. To do this, you must create a unique cookie for each to/from phone number pair and store the unique cookie messages sent between that pair of numbers.
How To Tell If a Number Is From a Scammer. Most cell phone providers help you identify known scam numbers by displaying a “Scam likely”, “Potential Spam”, or "Spam Risk" message on your Caller ID.
Look up their official contact details to verify the number. Check messages for spelling errors or incorrect details. Block a number if they persistently call you or engage in suspicious behaviour. If you have friends or relatives abroad.
If you see "Suspected spam caller" or "Spam" as the caller ID, the call might be spam. You can answer the call, or block and report the number.

I've been a BofA cardholder for the better part of two decades, and every year spend an hour or so verifying flagged transactions via phone with bank-fraud reps. It's an annoying, but necessary, part of making 50 to 100 charges every month for home and business. 1-800-427-2449 for additional information.

Can someone hack my phone if I reply to a text?
No, you cannot get hacked by replying to a scam text, but you can get hacked from a scam text if you click on a malicious link the scammer sends you.
In some cases, yes. Replying to a smishing message can allow malware into your phone or land you some unwanted charges.
